Music has always been an essential part of Venice’s civilization, and the city continues to be a hub for innovative projects. In this exhibition, the Conservatorio di Musica di Venezia “Benedetto Marcello” presents an initiative developed in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts and Teatro La Fenice. This partnership produced the opera “Marco Polo,” freely adapted from the famous “Il Milione” and entirely composed and performed by students, commemorating 700 years since Marco Polo’s death.

The opera debuted at Teatro Malibran in Venice and then toured to the Hangzhou Conservatory, receiving acclaim even from President Mattarella during his state visit. By involving students from Italy, China, and across the globe, the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory further demonstrates how Venice fosters a refined, open, and cosmopolitan culture.
