Fondazione Diabete Ricerca is a non-profit social utility organization (Onlus), founded in 1999 by the Italian Society of Diabetology (SID), the leading scientific society in Italy for diabetes, consistently engaged in research, training, and dissemination.
In Venice, the Foundation promotes the project “Environment, Health, and Prevention of Chronic Diseases,” which studies the link between environment and health through wearables and environmental sensors. The goal is to understand how factors such as pollution, urbanization, and housing conditions influence people’s well-being.
The collected data will be used to develop artificial intelligence and telemedicine solutions, focusing on prevention, sustainability, and quality of life.
With its unique environmental characteristics, Venice is the ideal place to observe how transport, walkability, air quality, and urban density impact public health.
