As part of the regional policies aimed at sustainable development and the protection of the territory and the environment, the Regione del Veneto promotes numerous initiatives to protect the natural capital by introducing innovative techniques, according to compatibility criteria, and promoting the dissemination of environmentally friendly technologies.

The specificity of Venice and its Lagoon constitutes a strategic area for the Regione del Veneto in implementing indispensable interventions to remediation, reducing the territory’s hydraulic risk, sustainably using the water resource, and, more generally, mitigating the effects of climate change.

The redevelopment of the hydrographic network, the remediation of contaminated sites, the extension of the sewage network, and the rationalization of the purification system in the territory of the drainage basin in the Lagoon of Venice, including the environmental redevelopment of the Site of National Interest of Venice Porto Marghera, are all concrete actions that the Region implements through a series of initiatives framed within specific programming and planning tools.

The Regione del Veneto is also committed to promoting Green Public Procurement (GPP) policies, which apply the principles of the circular economy to water management. This fosters the creation of healthier ecosystems and helps protect water resources, ensuring their availability for future generations.
